Days 17 MV Columbia and Sitka, AK

Day 17 The Columbia

Woke up about in time to get off the boat and go into the small town Sitka, Alaska. It is the town with the totum (?) poles. For $10 a bus would take you from the ferry dock, about 10 miles out of town to the center of town and back. After seeing the history part, we scampered to the liquor store, shops, movie store, grocery and got a pizza to bring back with us. We were the envy of the bus ride back.

A bunch of relaxing and resting, watched This is it, the Michael Jackson story... well made in halfway through and then wondered around before playing cards and going to bed.

Day 17 cont. -

SO, I knew that the ferry would be big because it holds like six hundred people and over 130 cars or something... Well, it's huge! It's like a small cruise ship.
Aside from all the decks and rooms, there are laundry rooms, a snack bar ( like a cafeteria line) a nicer dining room, a bar, a movie theatre of sorts, a game room and a gift shop nad for those without rooms there are plenty of bathrooms and free showers. It's the perfect size. And so far, everyone has been super nice- the crew and the other guests.
This afternoon was nice, because we went into port in Sitka. We were able to get off the ship and walk around town for a couple of hours and we both really liked that.
In the evening I started getting a little bit of cabin fever- it's kind weird being in the same place for over a few hours... i've gotten use to going vrmmmmm.
We've made new friends on the ship and seen serveral peeps that we saw along the Alaska highway. Everyone has been super nice!!
