Days 18, 19, 20
ferry to California

Like all good things, our ferry ride came to an end. But not before making a few new friends and a close run-in with a bout with sea sickness. Now that it is over it was real cool to have someone drive us for 3 + days. And even cooler to meet so many nice people from across the US.

It was kinda like summer camp was over...... with a few hand shakes and a few walks down memory lane we all went our separate ways with fond memories that will not be soon forgotten.

We spent a full day at sea on thursday, but with clouds removed. Much of the daylight hours were spent telling stories from the road out on the back deck. We both got sun burnt and are sore from fighting the swells in the open waters. It was a beautiful day with the most spectacular sunset.

Got up this morning at 5am, not sure really what time it was ... I told the watchman who we became friends with that I hadn't been up this early in years..... I can not remember the last time I was up at 5am (sam). Drove off the ferry at 9 and hit the road hard- well, as hard as we could in Washington traffic!

The last time we wrote was in Ketchikan, Alaska at a McDonalds. We are back in the lower 48 and back to the heat and heavily populated areas. We ditched our original route today to get farther and back east faster. We write you now from central ish California..... somewhere south of Sacramento in a little town called Santa Nella. After covering over 900 miles today, having an In and Out burger with Greg B and chillin' with Andreas at the chevron in Arbunkel (in the middle of nothing), we finally stopped driving around 2:30 am and got a room.
Now it's time to watch some mindless tv and catch some z's. We'll chat again tomorrow (hopefully from the LA area!!).
