DAY 4- Breckenridge, CO to Yellowstone
Day 4
We woke up to a beautiful Colorado morning. Went through my old stomping grounds. Lots of memories! Hit the road about 9 am, early for us. Went to Walmart and ran into Tom from the olds in Breck and caught up. Hit I-70 through the tunnel and I got caught in some gnarly groved pavement and kinda freaked out. I didn’t know what to do so I did what any rookie motorcycle rider would do, I slowed down to about 30 mph on one of the largest interstates in the nation…….I could not get out of the groves because of the 6 inch lip on the other lane but after slowing waaaay down…I got out. WOW!
Off top Boulder and met up with Preston- a good friend from high school. Bought spandex and some fancy lube……… (more to come later) Lunch and then saw Helen and the precious baby boy Ronin Maxwell. Adorable.
This is where it gest kinda lame. I put the bike in the truck. I had to take the day and spend it with my boo. I told her it was because I wanted to spend time with her…. Although, my everything hurts. Left thumb is numb, entire right hand is numb, under areas…… back, neck and I think my tail bone is bruised.
Great to ride in the car! Conversation and phone calls. Long day…. I am writing from the car and it is almost midnight (local time) and we are not there! I feel real weird about riding in the car, but my mom told me it was a good thing.
Really looking for to getting back on the bike. I did not think I would, but maybe I am a real cyclist. Probably not!
Peace and I will catch you from the road tom tomorrow.

Day 4 cont.
So I feel asleep last night before I got the chance to write anything…. Thank you sam for including my pics with yours- love you!! So, yesterday was texas, new mexico and Colorado. We ended up in Breckenridge and met up with a couple of Sam’s buddies from when he worked there. Thanks Justin and Brad for taking us in for the night!
We woke this morning to warm sunshine and crisp mountain air. After several tunnels and one long, winding and beautiful canyon, we were in Boulder. We met up with Preston, Helen and the newest addition to their family- baby Ronin…. So cute!!! Greta to see you guys!!! Then on north by northwest- together in the truck. The whole day was filled with miles and miles of beautiful scenery. This is my first time in Wyoming and it’s lovely. The sunset tonight started about 8 or 8:30 and there was light on the horizon until at least 10:30. Glad I got to share the ride wit Sam- ( Sam, you are so far from lame!)
Currently we are in Jackosn, it’s now 1:00 am(MT), and we’re still heading north- me and my boo.
What and awesome adventure this is- a once in a lifetime kind of trip!!! We really are lucky to be able to take a month to travel the US and Canada!!!
Onward north-
Jolie

Thanks guys, I'm vicariously enjoying the trip through your great photos and words. I look forward to seeing where your adventure takes you each day through this blog. I've learned more about Sam since he started this ride than I ever did in the several years of working with him. :-) And yes, I'd say you are a "real" biker now, and will likely qualify for the Iron Butt Association by the time you get back home.

checking in- looks great!!
ReplyDeleteYou two are nothing short of AMAZING!!!! The pictures and stories are INCREDIBLE!!!! I literally get on everyday to see the progress! I wish you continued safe travels and just know that there are lots of us that are cheering you on! Good luck! I love you both! XOXOXOXOXOXO
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you guys made it through southern California to come visit. It looks like since my last return to Wyoming back in 2002, the population of Buford has dropped by half. It used to be 2.
